Laurie Slovarp received her master’s degree in speech and speech and language pathology from Arizona State University in 2000.  Since graduating she has worked primarily with the adult population in hospital, acute rehab, outpatient rehab, and home health settings.  Her areas of special interest include dysphagia, voice disorders, and mild traumatic brain injury (TBI).  Laurie also held an assistant professorship for one year at Arizona State University where she taught undergraduate and graduate courses in neurogenic communication disorders and voice disorders.  Laurie opened a private practice (Advanced Speech Therapy, Inc.) in 2007 with a specialty in fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES).  She was the first speech therapist to bring FEES to the Missoula area.  She received her BRS-S (Board Recognized Specialist in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders) in January 2009.  She began working at The University of Montana in January of 2010.
